IGAL Airport Is At International Standards By:- Abdulahi Ahmed Arshe

The Somaliland government led by president Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo took office in 2010 and appointed the minister of Civil Aviation and Air transport Hon Mohamud Hashi Abti.
He is an academic figure with good leadership skills, he was the first Mayor in Burao in 1991 after announcing Somaliland sovereignty and also he was an MP Somaliland clans parliament, he is truly a good man with a political ambition.
When Mr. Hashi took position he immediately resumed renovation of all Somaliland Airports that is to say , Igal International Airport and Berbera Airport, Igal Airport was re-opened long time ago in 1957 and was consisting of a small building. The Minister of Civil Aviation Mohamud Hashi Abdi succeeded IN bringing from Kuwait government10 million dollars donated to modernize and upgrade Igal Airport and Berbera Airport. Berbera Airport improved a new terminal and 15km fencing, in realty Berbera Airport is strategically located a long the coast of Berebera city, Hargeisa Airport implemented large projects which among include departure terminal, renovated runway, security system, installed new equipment, good administration, eradicated corruption, rules and regulations and so on. In the current time Igal International is at international standard and has attracted international investors, connected destination flights, economic growth and as well as regional integration officials who come to Somaliland using different flights from the world. This project carried out by China Horn Group Company, Hargeisa Airport has renewed 2.4 kilometers, 1.5 kilometers extension is outgoing and also will be finished in the coming weeks together with the fencing of the Airport, lighting under process. Ethiopian Airline makes two flights every day, and its one of the best Airlines in Africa. we prospect there will be coming international flights, like Turkish Airline, Kenyan Airways, fly Dubai and ATA. The vision of the ministry of Civil Aviation and Air Transport is to develop Igal Airport to become a regional feeder and international economic hub. International Civil Aviation Organization {ICAO}, carried out monitoring and evaluation in Hargeisa Airport and estimated it at Category 7 with reliable security . The Current government has put in more effort in upgrading Somaliland Airports by rehabilitating and rebuilding all Airports to meet international standards.
